Who is Chris?

Excellent question. The short answer is, he's still figuring it out.  If you can stay awake for the long answer... well... you've been forewarned.

Who was he? - The early years

  • The curious kid.
  • The kid that was scolded time and again by his elementary school teachers, "Stop staring out the window or I will be sending a note home to your mother."
  • The kid that not only took apart his own toys, but his siblings toys too.
  • The kid that found out mixing pool chlorine, gas and matches is just as dangerous as it sounds.
  • The kid that was taught respect, hard (but smart) work, honesty and pride by his parents.

Who was he? - The Terrible Teens

  • The curious adolescent.
  • The adolescent that often heard, ""Stop staring out the window or I will be sending a note home to your mother."
  • The adolescent that fell in love with athletics, tinkering, pranks and Halloween.
  • The adolescent that not only took apart his own bikes, but his siblings bikes too.
  • The adolescent that found out dropping a firecracker into your neighbors charcoal grill will send ashes and coals directly into your eyes.  Or was that in the early years?
  • The adolescent that started his career in the construction industry under the tutelage of the best in the industry (his father).
  • The adolescent that learned what an honest days pay is and gained respect for all of the men and women that built this country...with their hands.

Who was he? - The Young adult

  • The curious young adult.
  • The young adult that continued to "borrow" his fathers materials to use for his own projects.  Often times hearing things such as, "Where is the lumber that I had stacked next to the side of the garage?"
  • The young adult that found out that driving your Van through a corn field may rip your entire exhaust system from the vehicle.
  • The young adult that received a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
  • The young adult that found out it's tough landing a job after a massive stock market crash.
  • The young adult that upon finding a job, realized he followed everyone else's dreams but his own.  He did not enjoy working in Corporate America.

Who Was he becoming? - The winds of change

  • The curious man.
  • The man that started saying, "Life is too short, you need to have some fun."
  • The man that still played ring and run and threw eggs on Halloween.
  • The man that took a "temporary" job as a carpenter (under the tutelage of the best in the industry...his father).
  • The man that started building Halloween props, parade floats and performing surgery on his new home.
  • The man that fell in love with building things.

Who Was He Becoming? - Clarity

  • The "more than just curious" man.
  • The man that continued to log "off - highway" miles but learned how to keep the exhaust system intact.  Brake lines are another story.
  • The man that was brought back into an office after reaching journeyman status as a carpenter.
  • The man that made a career as a professional construction estimator.
  • The man that found out, if you think you know what love is, you don't.  The "One" will make you plant your feet on the ground, square your shoulders, look to the future and charge forward.
  • The man that found out the hard way that tying a rubber band around the kitchen sink sprayer hose lever is a bad idea as an April Fools joke (when your wife is six months pregnant).

Who is He Now? - Finding Purpose

  • The "more than ever" curious man.
  • The man that logged a few "off-highway" miles with toddlers in car seats.
  • The man that plays ring and run and throws eggs with his wife and kids on Halloween.
  • The man that is often heard saying, "I can build that." Meanwhile, under his breath he's saying, "Oh $h#%.  I hope I can build that."
  • The husband.
  • The dad.
  • The builder.

Who does he want to be when he grows up? - ????

  • Those around him are still waiting for him to grow up.
  • The dad/husband that builds an "off-highway" vehicle (and a motorcycle).
  • The dad/husband that continues the family tradition of Halloween Haunted House tunnels in the workshop.
  • The dad/husband that continues to build, but helps others build things that they didn't believe they could.
  • The dad/husband that will be there for his family until his last breath.
  • You're still reading this?  May I ask, "What do you want to build?"

Sincerest thanks for stopping by.  Let's open the shop doors and dive into the Reverie.
