Like human fingerprints, no two whale tails are exactly the same. Such is the case for these handmade, metal hair sticks. No two will ever be the same.

Our custom, one of a kind, metal hair sticks and hair forks are a timeless solution for the modern-day elastic band.  They are equally comfortable at keeping your locks out of the way during your 9-5 or complimenting your updo as you grace the aisle.

How are they made?  

Each metal hair stick starts as a piece of 3/16” solid steel.  Custom shapes and symbols are cut on our CNC machine.  Once the final shape is achieved, it is heated in our forge to 2,000+- degrees and shaped by hammer and hand on 100-year-old anvil. 

How is it finished?

The steel is re-heated to 1,000 + degrees and allowed to cool at room temperature.  When the surface temperature falls below 400 degrees, a special blend of natural bees’ wax is applied by hand.

Color: Raw steel with hand rubbed, wax finish. Due to the nature of mild steel, no two hair sticks will ever appear the same guaranteeing a truly one of a kind piece.  Minor variations may occur between the items pictured and the item you receive. 

Maintenance: Clean your metal hair stick as you would any other piece of mild steel jewelry. If exposed to continued moisture, a small amount of surface rust will appear.  Simply rub the surface with #0000 steel wool and apply a fresh coat of wax.
